If the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar works, you can update your address online.

Central Government Checked 25 October 2026 UIDAI (Aadhaar)

Steps

  1. Click My Aadhaar Portal
You will find it under Quick Links on the UIDAI home page.
    Open this page
  2. Log in with your Aadhaar number
Type your Aadhaar number into the login box on the portal.
    Open this page
  3. Enter the OTP you receive
The OTP goes to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and works only once.
  4. Start the address update request
Look for the address update option on your screen, as the official page does not name the menu or button.
  5. Upload one paper that shows where you live
Pick one paper from the UIDAI list of supporting documents. Uploading it sends your request, and UIDAI checks the paper later.
    Open this page
  6. After the last step
Online: UIDAI's quality and processing team checks your paper later.
    No linked mobile number?
Take a paper that shows where you live to a UIDAI centre where staff help you with Aadhaar.
The centre staff member who files your request collects it, so keep the receipt.
At a centre in the standard mode: your receipt shows an Update Request Number (URN), which lets you follow your request.
At a centre in the lighter mode: your receipt shows an Enrolment ID (EID), which you use to check the status.
The Aadhaar app lists Track my request among its services.

What you need

If something goes wrong

Never share your OTP with anyone who asks
No official office, bank or support line will ask for your OTP or PIN by phone, SMS or chat. Type your details only on the official website, and hang up on anyone who asks for them.
The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is missing
Online services need that number. Visit a UIDAI centre where staff help you with Aadhaar to have it registered, then try the online route.
Not sure which paper shows where you live
Open the UIDAI list of supporting documents (PDF) and pick one marked as proof of address in the update list.
Your bill is old or not in your name
The UIDAI list says bills must be not older than 3 months, and the paper must be in your name.
