What changed: The notification dated 4 September 2024 ended hard copy Migration Certificates for Class X and XII from the 2025 examinations onwards. The digital copy is used for admission.

Steps

  1. Check your exam year is 2025 or later
This rule is for Class X and Class XII students from the 2025 examinations onwards. For them, CBSE does not issue a hard copy of the Migration Certificate.
    Open this page
  2. Show your digital Migration Certificate at admission
Use the digital copy in your DigiLocker at your new school or college. UGC (University Grants Commission) has told colleges to accept these copies from the Board.
  3. Open Duplicate Academic Document System
Open the "Duplicate Academic Document System" only if you need a hard copy. The notice names this link.
    Open this page
  4. After the last step
Keep your DigiLocker account active so the digital copy in your DigiLocker stays available for admission.
Ask CBSE for a hard copy only if a school or college needs it.
If you need help, read the problem cards above.

If something goes wrong

I cannot find it in DigiLocker. What now?
Check that you are logged in to the right account. This is our advice, as the notice gives no route for a missing copy.
My college asks for the hard copy. What now?
Show the digital copy in your DigiLocker and mention the UGC instruction. If they still insist, ask CBSE for a hard copy.
How do I ask for the hard copy of the Migration Certificate?
Ask CBSE through the Duplicate Academic Document System link in the help list.
Someone asks for my one-time code or password. What should I do?
Never share your one-time code (OTP) or password with anyone who calls or messages you. CBSE and DigiLocker do not need them from callers.
